On May 22–23, 2025, the fifth and final meeting of the Nordplus project “Different Approaches to Teaching Science and Entrepreneurship in the Experience of the Nordic and Baltic Countries” took place in Riga. The project was organized by the Latvian Association of Occupational Safety Specialists (LDASA), which hosted guests from Iceland, Finland, Lithuania, and Estonia. Estonia was represented by Riina Hiob, the Estonian coordinator of the Nordplus project at the Järvamaa Foundation, and education innovator Barbi Paatsi.

The project lasted for two years and included five international meetings aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Nordic and Baltic countries in the fields of education and occupational safety. The final meeting in Riga served as the culmination of the project, where participants agreed that the collaboration had been so fruitful and inspiring that new joint initiatives for the future were already being discussed.

During the two project days, participants visited the Rīgas Ūdens water treatment plant to learn how STEM subjects are integrated into practical work and how digital occupational safety systems are implemented within the company. At the SIA TOODE factory, participants took part in a hands-on fire safety training, where they practiced using fire extinguishers and learned the basics of fire safety. At Riga Secondary School No. 45, an evacuation drill was carried out, followed by discussions on school safety issues.

In addition to practical activities, the meeting included discussions, exchange of experiences, and a cultural program in Riga’s Old Town. At the end of the meeting, partners concluded that although the project had officially ended, strong connections had been formed and there was a shared desire to continue working together.

A heartfelt thank you to all partners and teachers who participated in this project. The project achieved its goal – to strengthen international cooperation and share best practices. By learning together and exchanging experiences, we are building a safer and more innovative future.
